Java Open source Reporting Engines

Last month I was evaluating two open source reporting engines in Java -Jasper Reports and BIRT. BIRT seems to have a promising future even though missing some of the features of Jasper Reports like cross tabs, excel output format etc. Eclipse based BIRT designer is easy to use when compared to iReports to create reports for JasperReports.
